Mission 4 Mangroves

The Mission 4 Mangroves Project promotes sustainable, nature-based tourism on Grand Bahama Island while training entrepreneurs to offer eco-friendly tours. It aims to connect the tourism sector with coastal resilience by empowering designated “Stewards of the Environment” and providing mangrove-focused eco-adventures to meet the growing demand for nature-based experiences.

Mangroves are crucial for climate resilience, as they effectively protect against storm surges and erosion and sequester carbon. This aligns with The Bahamas’ climate commitments.
Altogether, this project connects many of the Sustainable Development Goals, where the promotion of decent sustainable work supports the climate action efforts of the island through strong partnerships.
